If you’re like us here at Blackburn Nissan, you have a busy schedule. Therefore, finding time to get your car washed, though necessary to keep the obligatory “wash me” message off your rear bumper, can be a real hassle. Nissan is looking to help us all out, though, as they’ve now developed a prototype of the world’s first “self-cleaning” car.
You might think it sounds ridiculous, but let’s give it a chance here. The prototype is a Nissan Note, an all-new car that will be sold in European markets only, that has been equipped with a “specially engineered super-hydrophobic and oleophobic paint,” which is basically a really fancy way of saying that the paint repels water and oils to keep the car clean. The technology used here is called Ultra-Ever Dry—and Nissan is the first to put it to use on a car.
“The Nissan Note has been carefully engineered to take the stress out of customer driving, and Nissan’s engineers are constantly thinking of new ways to make families’ lives easier,” said Geraldine Ingham, Chief Marketing Manager for Nissan Note. “We are committed to addressing everyday problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting edge technology like this incredible coating application.”
So far, the Ultra-Ever Dry technology has impressed those at work on the Note prototype. Nissan’s not ready to announce the new paint job as a production-ready option quite yet, but we promise we’ll keep you posted on any future self-cleaning car news.
Nissan wowed the masses at the 2014 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) by unveiling two new models that both represent Nissan’s goal of connecting with more drivers than ever: the 2015 Murano and 2015 Versa Sedan.
The 2015 Nissan Murano made its world debut, standing triumphant as the new halo crossover/SUV for the brand and looking more than a little bit like a bigger, badder version of the Sport Sedan Concept in its bold orange coat. The Murano gets the V-motion front fascia, LED boomerang lights, and the floating roof that have become such an integral part of Nissan’s dynamic new design direction.
“Murano owners live in an environment – home, work and car – that is beautiful, well-designed and efficiently run. They are social and embrace technology,” said Andy Palmer, Executive Vice President, Chief Planning Officer (CPLO) of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “The new Murano had to embrace all of these values, while also taking a major leap forward in terms of its ‘Wow’ factor.”
Nissan also unleashed the 2015 Versa Sedan, which is already on its way to showrooms around the country (including ours right here at Blackburn Nissan). The new Versa Sedan will sport an upgraded exterior, including a new front end with larger headlights and chrome-plated grille, and an interior that still boasts more interior room than a great many midsize sedans. With a starting MSRP of $11,990 and fuel economy up to 31 mpg city/40 mpg highway/35 mpg combined, the new Versa sedan is a surefire hit for those looking to get new car quality without the new car price.

While here in the United States, soccer is definitely not the most popular sport, in the United Kingdom, soccer (or football, as they call it) is king. That is why Nissan decided to become the newest sponsor for the most prestigious soccer club tournament there, the Champions League.
The Champions League is part of the overall European soccer governing body, the UEFA.
This sponsorship is a big step in Nissan’s goal to become the top Asian brand in Europe. Based on last year’s sales, Nissan ranks third, but is only a hair away from number two, Hyundai, and less than 100,000 vehicles away from top-ranking Toyota.
“European growth is important to Nissan, and in UEFA we feel we have found the perfect partner to help us achieve our business goal of becoming the #1 Asian car manufacturer in Europe by 2016,” said Bastien Schupp, vice president, Marketing, Nissan Europe, in a statement.
We think this is a great move for Nissan and will greatly increase its presence in the European market. And, hopefully, by 2016, we can all yell, “Goal!” when Nissan is number one.
The Nissan Rogue is one of the most stylish and innovative SUVs on the new car marketplace today, so it should come as no surprise that the folks at Nissan catered that style and innovation to crafting an extremely safe ride as well. In fact, for 2014, the Rogue has now been named a “Top Safety Pick+” by the IIHS; the Top Safety Pick+ rating is the highest rating given out by the institute, and is only awarded to the safest vehicles in a segment.
“Nissan has a long-standing commitment to safety and innovation, and this IIHS rating is a very important milestone for the all-new 2014 Rogue,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, Parts & Service, U.S.A, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “Rogue is the second best-selling vehicle in Nissan’s lineup, and with its standard and available safety features, we’re bringing a new level of affordable technologies and innovations to a growing segment looking for fresh ideas.”
Some of the features Diaz mentioned include an Advanced Air Bag System (AABS), the LATCH system (which stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children), and Nissan’s exclusive Easy Fill Tire Alert, all of which combine to make the Rogue the safest possible vehicle for the whole family. Plus, with Around View Monitor, you’ll have a 360 degree of the areas around you as you pull out of Blackburn Nissan in your brand new 2014 Nissan Rogue!
