The Nissan LEAF has long been at the forefront of the EV market, and the competition is starting to look for ways to catch up and snatch its crown. To keep its sturdy grip on the throne, the 2019 Nissan LEAF is expected to offer several exciting upgrades that’ll keep folks coming back for more.
AutoGuide last month spoke with Nissan’s director of EV Marketing and Sales Strategy, Brian Maragno, who informally announced the 2019 Nissan LEAF E-Plus. With a bigger battery on board for longer range, this LEAF is expected to crank out around 200 horsepower and achieve a 200-mile range on a single charge, making both highly efficient and exceptionally fun to drive.
With respect to performance, Maragno wouldn’t say whether the Nissan LEAF NISMO®, which went on sale in Japan last month, will make the leap to the United States. Certainly, the introduction of a stylish NISMO variant would add some nice cushion between the LEAF and its competition.
Nissan was tight-lipped about the Nissan LEAF E-Plus, but it did confirm to AutoGuide that it will be sold as a 2019 model, which means it could be arriving as soon as the end of this year. For more as it develops, watch this space and stop into Blackburn Nissan for the latest.
