How to Get Your Car Ready for Fall

serviceYou may have already noticed a slight chill in the air after the sun goes down. As autumn begins to settle in the temperatures continue to drop, here are a few items you need to check to get your car ready for fall.

  1. HVAC. Make sure your heater and your air conditioner are working. Even when the temperatures get colder, your air conditioner is still useful for removing moisture from the air and keeping your windows from getting foggy.
  2. Brakes. Have your brakes inspected to make sure your pads aren’t worn too thin. Wet leaves on the road can lead to slippery driving conditions.
  3. Lights. As the nights get longer, you’ll be using your headlights more often. Make sure all of your exterior lights are working and angled correctly.
  4. Wipers. While autumn does tend to be a bit dryer here in Mississippi, you still need good windshield wipers. If they are leaving streaks or have any cracks, they need to be replaced.
  5. Emergency gear. This is something you should keep in your car year-round, but as the temperatures get cooler, make sure you have a blanket and even an ice scraper—you want to be prepared in case we have an early frost.

If you want to get your car ready for fall, schedule an appointment with Blackburn Nissan as soon as possible.

2017 Nissan Armada Overview

2017 Nissan Armada
2017 Nissan Armada

After taking a year off, Nissan brings back the Armada with an all-new design. Here’s a 2017 Nissan Armada overview so you can see what it has in store.

In its new form, the Armada comes with substantial improvements from nose to tail. Right from the start, you’ll notice the Armada’s new bold styling. The Armada rides on top of new architecture, which it now shares with the Infiniti QX80. However, the Armada still keeps its rugged body-on-frame build, letting it tow up to 8,500 pounds.

Buyers will find a strong 5.6-liter V8 under the hood, rated at 390 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque. This engine delivers more power and better efficiency than the outgoing engine. Paired with the engine is a seven-speed automatic transmission. And buyers can choose between rear- and all-wheel drive.

Inside, the new Armada is packed to the brim with features. The quality of the interior materials gets a big boost this year with many premium materials like available leather. Drivers will also appreciate the tech amenities like standard navigation, Bluetooth, and Bose audio.

With seating for up to eight, desirable standard features, premium interior design, and rugged capabilities, the 2017 Nissan Armada is an ideal choice for your next family adventure vehicle.

Check Out These Exciting Nissan Armada Highlights

2017 Nissan ArmadaBack when it first made its debut on the market, the Nissan Armada—like other full-size SUVs—wasn’t built to be a smart, technology-packed vehicle. However, 2017 is a new era, and the new Nissan Armada for the 2017 model year makes use of plentiful tech to compete in a segment and automotive market that increasingly rely on connectivity features to sell vehicles.

It doesn’t disappoint, thanks to new safety systems, a new Around-View monitor, and various other strides in performance that make it a great off-roading vehicle.

The Around-View Monitor is useful in multiple situations, from backing up, to changing lanes on the highway, to navigating difficult terrain. This is due to its ability to display a bird’s-eye view of the area around the Armada. Additionally, the Nissan Armada has several of the most “basic” safety tech systems, like blind spot detection and lane departure warning.

The Nissan Armada is also built on the same Patrol platform as the Infiniti QX80, which means you get the look and space of a luxury-class vehicle for a fraction of the cost. Premium features like a 13-speaker Bose audio system, an 8-inch color touch radio, and LED exterior lights come standard on the Armada, too, so you won’t be missing any amenities, either.

The new Nissan Armada offers a ton more features for families in need of a large hauler, so make sure you check out the new 2017 model year loaded with technology and luxury materials. We’ve got the new Armada on our lot here in Vicksburg. Be sure to stop by Blackburn Nissan to check it out!

The History of Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day
Happy Labor Day from Blackburn Nissan!

What do you associate with Labor Day? No school? Three-day weekend? Barbecues? The end of summer? Pool closings? Technically, all of those are correct, but there’s more to Labor Day weekend than just being able to sleep in.

Observed on the first Monday in September, Labor Day was created to recognize the efforts and contributions of American workers during the Industrial Revolution, a time when working conditions had few regulations and American workers were often overworked and underpaid from a young age and in unsafe conditions.

The history of Labor Day began when it was celebrated on September 5th in 1882, when 10,000 workers in New York City marched from City Hall to Union Square in the first-ever Labor Day Parade. The idea of the holiday caught on afterward and spread across the country like wildfire. The holiday known as Labor Day was nationally recognized by Congress 12 years later following a major wage strike in Chicago.

Credit for the idea behind Labor Day is given two men–Peter J. McGuire, who co-founded the American Federation of Labor, and a secretary of the Central Labor Union named Matthew McGuire. Either way, the brave workers who fought for their rights during the late 1800s and early 1900s are yours to thank for your relaxing Labor Day weekend.
