Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept Unveiled in Detroit

Vmotion 2.0 concept

At the North American International Auto Show held last month in Detroit, Nissan showed off its latest concept, which it calls Vmotion 2.0. The Vmotion 2.0 concept is a vision of the where the future may take Nissan and is an example of an ideal vehicle for busy professionals.

The sleek design starts with the signature “V-motion” grille design visible on most Nissan products today. However, on this concept, the design is enhanced with a three-dimensional shape that illuminates when the vehicle is in autonomous ProPILOT mode. The sleek look continues with wrap-around rear glass and a “floating roof” design.

The total design is so striking; the Vmotion 2.0 was actually awarded the EyesOn Design Award for Best Concept Vehicle at the show.

ProPILOT mode is part of “Nissan Intelligent Mobility” and is currently just in a visionary state, but would provide automated driving support on urban roads and at intersections.

Inside the concept, is a large open cabin featuring a “Gliding Wing” dashboard that includes both the instrument panel and infotainment system, which the driver and passenger can enjoy. Rear seat passengers share a center console display. In addition, all seats are designed to be comfortable and supportive with fine leather upholstery.

All in all, the Vmotion 2.0 concept is an inviting look into the future.

The Blackburn Nissan team is excited to see where the Vmotion 2.0 concept takes Nissan in the future.

The Nissan Rogue “Star Wars” commercial is bound to excite movie fans and auto enthusiasts alike.

The 30-second spot is slated to air on television while the 60-second ad is currently available for your viewing pleasure on Nissan’s YouTube channel.

Nissan also launched the Ultimate Access Sweepstakes with the ads. Fans can register for a chance to win a free pass to attend the release of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” in Hollywood.

Hydrogen-Powered Nissan Vehicles Will Arrive By 2020

Nissan LogoIn around three years from now, expect to see Nissan vehicles on the market fueled by hydrogen. Only, these Nissan vehicles will differ greatly from the current hydrogen fuel-cell models offered by competitors. And that difference is ethanol.

There are vehicles on the road now that use ethanol as a fuel. But the upcoming hydrogen-powered Nissan vehicles will use the ethanol as a hydrogen source, converting the ethanol to hydrogen and then using that to generate electricity.

This approach offers a number of benefits that current hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles don’t have. The first benefit is that Nissan vehicles won’t have giant hydrogen tanks because they won’t have to store hydrogen (only ethanol). This has been a struggle for other automakers, forcing them to compromise cabin space. The second benefit is that Nissan vehicles won’t need hydrogen filling stations. An ethanol infastructure is already in place.

The range of the upcoming hydrogen-powered Nissan vehicles will be around 500 miles. We look forward to driving these eco-friendly cars!

The e-NV200 Gets Turned into Nissan’s Mobile Party Van

party peopleRecently, the Nissan brand—a major sponsor of the UEFA Champions League—revealed a new, exciting version of the e-NV200 at the League Final match. The special e-NV200, called the “PART e-VAN,” showed up to rock the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The awesome van is basically a Nissan’s mobile party van, with awesome disco capabilities and more.

The van comes with a disco ball solar panel array, which allows the van’s roof to absorb sunlight and turn it right into juice for the perfect party. The vehicle also comes with an augmented reality system—including two screens that allow you to project that augmented reality on the sides of the van. Basically, the augmented reality system allows you to jump into your favorite party scenario and then show it off to all your friends via social media.

The van also has a DJ booth, a cocktail mixer, an LED dance floor, and all kinds of other features. The electronic mobile party machine, after its debut in Berlin, will continue to scoot its way around Europe. It will show up next at the 24 Hour of Le Mans. “Nissan has time and again proven its commitment to electric cars, and as we electrify Berlin with the 100% electric e-NV200 here at the Olympiastadion – it’s the energy from our fans that inspires us to innovate,” said Bastien Schupp, Vice President of Marketing for Nissan Europe.

New Nissan Sway Concept Finally Unveiled

The all-new Nissan Sway Concept was finally unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and it is a design dream. The slick subcompact hatchback hit all the right notes as it made its grand debut. Although this model is meant for the European market, we’re still allowed to be blown away by it.

The new Sway featured a sleek blue/gray paint with wonderful orange accents. Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the Sway is its large glass roof panel. It also dons Nissan’s trademark V-motion grille and revolutionized “boomerang” headlamps.

The interior was designed to be elegant and simple according to Nissan. The automaker also reported that inspiration for the Sway concept came from industrial architecture. You can see hints of that throughout the car—in particular, the aluminum struts and spokes on the steering wheel.

We absolutely love the new Nissan concept and hope to see it one day in the US. In the mean time, you can check out the full Nissan lineup here at Blackburn Nissan.

Nissan Unshutters its Glow-in-the-Dark LEAF EV

There were already plenty of reasons to love the Nissan LEAF. After all, it’s not the world’s best-selling EV for nothing. But that didn’t stop Nissan from making a totally cool, glow-in-the-dark LEAF model either. In true LEAF fashion, too, the car glows thanks to a secret formula of all-organic materials.

Of course, these organic materials also make the car somewhat impractical from a mass-market standpoint—at least for right now. But, as a Nissan press release noted, if the technology is ever implemented, it will be both valuable and durable. “It contains a very rare natural earth product called Strontium Aluminate, which is solid, odorless, and chemically and biologically inert,” the press release stated. “Nissan’s unique paint, if made commercially available, would last for 25 years.”

We don’t know if we’ll ever see the Nissan LEAF glowing in the dark as a market vehicle, but we can always hope. It’s cool to see the brand offering such innovative technologies, yet finding ways to make those technologies as green as the car’s powertrain. Come see us at Blackburn Nissan to learn more about what Nissan has in store.

LEAF Has an Alter Ego as a Mini Pickup Truck

Nissan has turned its ecofriendly LEAF into a mini pickup truck, and it is sensational! Snipping off basically the entire rear end of the car, the brand added an adjusted Nissan Frontier pickup bed to the back.

The revolutionary tiny pickup is named Sparky, which is fitting for a car with so much pizzazz. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be made a part of Nissan’s repertoire, at least not yet. Fox News seems to think that Sparky has a real chance, saying, “The last time a few of (Nissan’s) engineers got crazy and stuffed the twin-turbo all-wheel-drive powertrain from the GT-R into a Juke, it ended up being so popular that they offered a limited run.”  If Sparky had the same option to become available to consumers, there is little doubt that the mini pickup truck would be available for more than just a short time. Better yet, it would be a completely electric truck!

Fingers crossed that Sparky makes it out onto roads in the near future. It could start an era of efficient micro trucks. In the meantime, head on over to Blackburn Nissan and try out some of our familiar, reliable models!

2015 Nissan Maxima Concept Revealed

At the recent Detroit Motor Show, and then again at the New York Auto Show, Nissan revealed the 2015 Nissan Maxima concept car. The new Maxima is a sports sedan and it breaks out of conventional design strategies.

The best way to describe the new design is “unconventional.” It’s all about how sporty it can be and what kind of power it can have. And it has power! The Maxima has a 3.5-liter V6 engine and can achieve 300 horsepower.

The design itself looks like something straight out of the future. The chrome bar that spans the top of the grille all the way to the headlights is accentuated by the boomerang shape of those lights. The Maxima is low to the ground and the wheels are near the corners, making for smooth driving and controlled turns. It has keyless entry and a great infotainment system.

The new Maxima is still in production, but you can expect to see it here at Blackburn Nissan soon.

Could Nissan BladeGlider and IDx Be the Future of Racing?

It’s no secret than Nissan has been focusing most of its research and development efforts on fuel economy, electric vehicles, and autonomous driving technologies, but don’t let that fool you. Nissan’s passion for race cars, motors sports and performance vehicles isn’t taking a backseat, either.

Besides the automaker’s focus on expanding their lineup of mass-market sedans and crossovers, Andy Palmer, Nissan EVP and head of product planning insists that the futuristic IDx and the BladeGlider are a part of Nissan’s midterm plan that extends into 2018.

“Does that guarantee absolutely that we’ll do the cars? It doesn’t,” he says in a recent Forbes article. “But basically, it’s in the plan. The technology exists, we know who the customer is, we’ve essentially laid out the R&D budget that allows it to happen. Now, basically, it’s about making the economics work.”

Race cars like the 370Z sports car and the GT-R are at the forefront of Nismo, but Palmer sees the importance of focusing more broadly, particularly when it comes to future performance models. Nissan’s aim continues to be the creation of performance cars that anyone can afford, and they hope to be at the forefront of changing the way we look at racing.

“Nissan’s mantra, brand position, whatever textbook expression you want to use, is ‘Innovation and excitement for everyone,’” Palmer says. “And it’s those three words basically that capture everything.”

Whether you are in the market for a performance car, an electric car, or a fuel-efficient car, Blackburn Nissan can help you find the right fit. Stop by today!

Nissan Has Perfect Vision of the Future with Nissan Gran Turismo Concept 2020
