The Nissan LEAF has long been at the forefront of the EV market, and the competition is starting to look for ways to catch up and snatch its crown. To keep its sturdy grip on the throne, the 2019 Nissan LEAF is expected to offer several exciting upgrades that’ll keep folks coming back for more.
AutoGuide last month spoke with Nissan’s director of EV Marketing and Sales Strategy, Brian Maragno, who informally announced the 2019 Nissan LEAF E-Plus. With a bigger battery on board for longer range, this LEAF is expected to crank out around 200 horsepower and achieve a 200-mile range on a single charge, making both highly efficient and exceptionally fun to drive.
With respect to performance, Maragno wouldn’t say whether the Nissan LEAF NISMO®, which went on sale in Japan last month, will make the leap to the United States. Certainly, the introduction of a stylish NISMO variant would add some nice cushion between the LEAF and its competition.
Nissan was tight-lipped about the Nissan LEAF E-Plus, but it did confirm to AutoGuide that it will be sold as a 2019 model, which means it could be arriving as soon as the end of this year. For more as it develops, watch this space and stop into Blackburn Nissan for the latest.

While some competitors are moving away from mid-size sedans altogether, Nissan is committed to reinventing the segment with the all-new 2019 Nissan Altima. The new Altima, set to launch this fall, will be offered with two new engine options, available ProPILOT Assist safety technology, and the first-ever application of Intelligent All-Wheel Drive to a Nissan sedan..
“Our goal with the all-new Altima is to re-energize the sedan segment—in terms of design, driving feel and in making advanced technologies available and affordable for everyone,” said Nissan Chief Performance Officer José Muñoz. “We want to energize drivers, helping make their lives safer, less stressful, and more exciting.”
The 2019 Nissan Altima will be offered with the world’s first production-ready variable compression turbo inline-four, which replaces the outgoing Altima’s 3.5-liter V6. The cutting-edge 2.0-liter VC-Turbo is expected to be considerably more efficient than the V6 while offering an impressive output of 248 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque.
“With the VC-Turbo, the driver balances the engine character through acceleration pedal operation alone. This ‘two engines in one’ is another way Altima stands far apart from all other vehicles in the segment,” said Muñoz.
The new Altima is also more stylish, more intelligent, and—with the addition of available ProPILOT Assist and Safety Shield 360 with Rear Automatic Braking—safer than ever. Other automakers are backing down when it comes to making sedans you want to drive, but Nissan is charging forward, full steam ahead.

On the fourth Monday of every May, we celebrate Memorial Day. Many of us get to enjoy a day off from work or school, and many of think of this day as the beginning of summer. But do you know the history of Memorial Day and what it truly means?
While Memorial Day is often filled with cookouts, parades, and family get-togethers, it is actually one of our nation’s most solemn official days. Memorial Day originated after the Civil War as a day to honor those who died during the conflict. This was done by decorating graves with flowers and holding vigils to honor the deceased. When it was declared a day of remembrance in 1868 by General John A. Logan, it was called Decoration Day. After World War I, the holiday evolved to include all American military personnel who died in any war.
For years, Memorial Day was always observed on May 30th, the date of the first Decoration Day. But after the Uniform Monday Holiday Act was passed by Congress in 1968 and went into effect in 1971, the holiday was moved to the last Monday in May. In the years since, it has fallen between May 25-31; this year, it falls on May 28.
Today, communities across the country recognize Memorial Day with solemn celebrations at cemeteries that include placing flags on the graves of all veterans. If you are planning any family events this year, consider taking a few minutes to talk about the importance of the day with your family. We hope that whatever your Memorial Day celebration entails, you’ll join the team at Blackburn Nissan in taking a few moments out of your day to reflect on all the lives laid down in the effort to keep America free.
Winter isn’t the only season that requires specific car maintenance—in fact, your car has particular needs for every season. Summer is no different: there are a number of maintenance steps that you can take to better ensure that you get your car ready for summer.
A change in outside temperatures will cause the air pressure in your car’s tires to fluctuate. As a result, you should check the tire pressure regularly, particularly at the point when seasons are changing. While you’re at it, look for any signs of wear and tear—like bulging or low tread levels—and replace your tires if they don’t appear up to the task of getting you through the summer safely.
Wash and Wax
The road salt from the winter can have some nasty effects on your car’s undercarriage if you’re not careful. To avoid any long-term damage, wash your car thoroughly and give it a good wax to protect from further scratching during the summer. Not only will a wash and wax keep your ride looking great in the sunshine, but it helps it retain more of its value should a day come where you want to sell it for a new one.
The start of any new season is a great time to bring your car into Blackburn Nissan for an oil change and a check-up. While it’s here, we’ll be happy to take a look at all other fluids—including coolant, steering fluid, and transmission fluid. If you’re a DIY type of person, you can consult your owner’s manual to check the levels of your car’s fluids on your own, but it’s just as easy for us to take care of it when you’re in for your next service.
These are just some of the tips to consider to make sure that your vehicle is ready for the road this summer. If you need help getting your ride back into tip-top shape, just bring it into Blackburn Nissan and we’ll get you all squared away.
The majority of Americans get a tax refund each year. In fact, according to the Internal Revenue Service, the average refund is about $3,000. While this is technically your money that is being returned to you, people tend to look at tax returns as a sort of well-earned one-time-a-year bonus, which they put toward a major purchase or paying off their bills. Your tax return is also a great way to make possible your goal of getting into a new car, truck, or SUV.
There are a few ways you can use this money toward the purchase of a vehicle. The first is to use it as a down payment on a new or used car at Blackburn Nissan. It can typically take months to save up for a down payment. Your tax return, however, does this for you in one lump sum.
Another way to use your tax return on a car is to make a large drive-off payment on a new lease. With a larger up-front payment, you could potentially lower your monthly lease payments giving you an amazing new car to drive without paying a lot.
If you aren’t in the market for a new car, you can still use your tax return money on your current car. Perhaps it needs a new set of tires or it has been having some mechanical problems. Use those funds to whip your car into shape again.
Having a sizable tax return is a fortunate problem to have, and we’re more than happy to help guide you in the direction that makes your money do the most work for you. To see what new Nissans might be most deserving of your hard-earned money, stop into Blackburn Nissan.
Are you ready for warmer weather and faraway places without the humdrum of the daily routine? If you’re gearing up for a spring break road trip, it’s a good idea to make sure your vehicle is ready for the task.
Catch Up With Routine Maintenance
If you haven’t already, schedule a routine check-up with your dealership’s service department in order to have a professional look over your vehicle and make sure everything’s good. Have them perform regular maintenance like topping off fluids, changing oil, and checking your tires.
What’s a road trip without a proper playlist? Use your Nissan’s NissanConnect™ infotainment system to sync up your music library and put together the ultimate spring break mix.
Have Games on Hand
Sometimes, road trips just get boring on the way. Curb the boredom – and the whining – by having your loved ones play fun and simple road trip games.
Load Up On Snacks
It’s important to keep everybody fed and happy on a road trip, too, to prevent grouchy moods.
When you’re on a long trip, sometimes it’s better just to assume everyone else on the road has no idea what they’re doing. Drive with an extra bit of caution and implement defensive driving tactics to stay safe.
Our team at Blackburn Nissan fun on your upcoming spring break road trip with these five tips!
The automotive industry is quickly bringing more and more technologies to the road, whether they’re for safety or convenience. That can be overwhelming for many drivers, but Nissan has a plan to help people understand the latest innovation. The Nissan-Star Wars partnership is bringing out special cars designed to do just that.
Lucasfilm, creators of the popular franchise, partnered with the Nissan Design Team to create vehicles geared towards helping people understand technologies. The team matched various Nissan vehicles, namely an Altima, Maxima, two Rogue crossovers, and a Titan, to Star Wars characters.
Many of the vehicles are inspired by the franchise’s most recent movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The Nissan Maxima, for example, took on Kylo Ren’s personality. Red underside lighting and a mask of milled aluminum are reminiscent of the popular character.
More Than Just Cool Vehicles
The designs aren’t all about just creating a cool vehicle though. Nissan is using the vehicles to help customers understand its suite of driver-assistance technologies. Some technologies, such as ProPILOT Assist, offer semi-autonomous driving capabilities, like braking and steering at highway speeds.
Where to See These Vehicles
While all the Star Wars-inspired Nissan vehicles won’t be available for purchase at dealerships, they will be making appearances at major auto shows.
We here at Blackburn Nissan are happy to see Star Wars-themed Nissan vehicles continuing to help people understand the latest technological developments!
With the Christmas season almost upon us, many Americans will soon hit the road to visit loved ones. Since winter weather can create poor driving conditions and more difficulties while on the road, we at Blackburn Nissan want to help keep you safe, so here are some Christmas travel safety tips.
Prepare your car for winter traveling conditions
There are a few things you should make sure to check before setting out on your holiday trip. You will want to make sure that your tire treads are in good shape and not worn down, that your battery is strong, and that you have acceptable levels of windshield wiper fluid, antifreeze, and oil.
Make travel plans ahead of time
Come up with your travel plans far in advance to avoid some of the busiest holiday travel days, and include some flexible time in your schedule to allow for traffic and challenging road conditions. Although you may have good weather and clear roads near you, wherever you are traveling to may not, so you will want to check the weather for your trip and plan accordingly.
Have a winter kit in your car with some essentials
This last one is simple: keep an ice scraper in your car, along with some water, food, and extra jackets/blankets in case you are stuck on the road far longer than expected.
Once the turkey and the pies have been eaten, many families turn their attention to Black Friday shopping. The exciting, early-bird race for excellent deals is just as much of a tradition for many as the Thanksgiving meal itself. Use these tips from Blackburn Nissan to make the most of your Black Friday shopping this year.
Plan Your Route
Before you head out, make a list of what you want to buy and where you’ll want to buy it. Order your items by priority, and then decide in what order you’ll hit each store. The more efficient and organized you are, the more likely you are to get everything you’re after
Even with the most organized shopping plan, it’s still impossible to cover all of the ground you may want. However, there is a way to be two places at once, and that’s by splitting up your shopping team. Don’t be afraid to go your own way in honor of the cause.
Sign Up for Emails
Want to know all of the secret deals from all of your favorite stores? Then joining mailing lists will be a productive move. This way, you’ll be clued into the when and where of the best sales.
