Are you hosting a party for Independence Day this year? Spice things up with these great 4th of July party ideas that are sure to make this holiday a memorable one.
# 1 – Something Different: A Hot Dog Bar
Instead of spending $200 on steaks and burgers, why not do something different, like a hot dog bar? Set out all of the fixin’s and let your guests make their own. Make sure you’ve got your staples like chili, cheese, relish, mustard and ketchup out. But get creative too! For instance, offer blue cheese crumbles, Sriracha, and pico de gallo,
# 2 – Show Your Spirit: Patriotic Jell-o Shots
Use your preferred Jell-o recipe to create layers of non-alcoholic blue and red-layered Jell-o “shots” by using blue raspberry jell-o and cherry or strawberry Jell-o in small cups. To create the white layer, use cool whip.
# 3 – A Sweet and Salty Treat: Patriotic Popcorn
This awesome snack is sure to be a hit with all of your partygoers. It’s essentially popcorn and pretzel sticks, covered in melted vanilla almond bark and then subsequently mixed with red, white and blue M&Ms. Sound amazing? Find the recipe here.
# 4 – Don’t Forget the Games!
Cornhole is a must at a 4th of July gathering. Make it holiday-appropriate with red, white and blue bean cornhole boards. Painting them doesn’t take much time and you can always re-paint them for the next holiday!
Now that spring is here, many more cyclists will be out and about. As drivers, we have to make room for them and respect their right to share the road. Driving near bicycles can be nerve-wracking, but if we follow these safety tips, we can make the road safer for cyclists.
First of all, you should understand that bicyclists are legally allowed to bike on the road, but they are not allowed to bike on the sidewalk, so don’t complain about them being in the road. If there’s no bike lane, you just have to deal with going slow for a while. It won’t kill you, but you could kill them, so keep that road rage in check.
Be very cautious when turning, especially making left turns. You may not realize how fast a bicycle is coming toward you and end up causing a collision, so it’s best to wait for them to pass. Always signal before changing lanes or turning, too—this is a given, but especially when cyclists are around.
Just be courteous, pay attention, and accept that cyclists aren’t going anywhere—and that isn’t a bad thing.
Nissan has generously contributed to the beloved MS History and Civil Rights Museum to help support new construction and future exhibits. In fact, Nissan donated a total of $500,000 to the museum.
Nissan has special ties with Mississippi as it was the first automaker to bring a plant here which now employs over 6,000 people. The brand’s dedication to providing for our state and country has truly been remarkable, and even more so now with the generous donation to the museum.
Jeffrey Webster, director of Diversity and Inclusion for Nissan North America said, “This project seeks to tell the full story of Mississippi’s past while also magnifying hopes for the future. This contribution continues Nissan’s commitment to diversity, education and service in our community.”
We at Blackburn Nissan are happy to see Nissan contributing to places in our home state and appreciate their overall commitment to improving the local communities.
