Most mid-cycle refreshes are light updates to keep a model year from becoming passé before its next generation. However, the 2016 Altima is receiving one of the most dramatic makeovers ever seen in Nissan’s history. With better performance, new looks, improved safety features, and the best fuel economy in its class, the 2016 Nissan Altima facelift gives it an edge in the competitive midsize sedan market.
The Altima by itself is difficult to improve; the outgoing model is touted by Nissan as the only midsize sedan with five consecutive years of sales growth. The refreshed 2016 model, however, employs the use of Nissan’s new, more aerodynamic Energetic Flow design language, an aspect of its design that it shares with the new Murano and Maxima.
The Altima comes with a new grille, bumper, fenders, hood, headlamps, and a redesign front fascia that gives it a more muscular appearance. The technology features added include the NissanConnect infotainment system, which comes with a variety of audio and navigational features and options. In addition, the sedan will be offered in seven trim levels, including the sporty SR trim that comes with 18” wheels, a more rigid suspension, fog lamps, and a rear spoiler.
The 2016 Nissan Altima facelift gives the car a more sleek and dramatic appearance, keeping it stylish and packed with cutting-edge features in the face of competitors. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the new model is expected to be available sometime in November.
