Nissan has turned its ecofriendly LEAF into a mini pickup truck, and it is sensational! Snipping off basically the entire rear end of the car, the brand added an adjusted Nissan Frontier pickup bed to the back.
The revolutionary tiny pickup is named Sparky, which is fitting for a car with so much pizzazz. Unfortunately, it’s not going to be made a part of Nissan’s repertoire, at least not yet. Fox News seems to think that Sparky has a real chance, saying, “The last time a few of (Nissan’s) engineers got crazy and stuffed the twin-turbo all-wheel-drive powertrain from the GT-R into a Juke, it ended up being so popular that they offered a limited run.” If Sparky had the same option to become available to consumers, there is little doubt that the mini pickup truck would be available for more than just a short time. Better yet, it would be a completely electric truck!
Fingers crossed that Sparky makes it out onto roads in the near future. It could start an era of efficient micro trucks. In the meantime, head on over to Blackburn Nissan and try out some of our familiar, reliable models!
We’re pleased to announce that Nissan set a new record for June this year by posting another great increase. The brand experienced a 5.3% increase in year-over-year sales and sold a total of 109,643 units throughout the month.
The top seller for the month, with no surprise, was the popular Nissan Altima. The Altima was sold over 26,000 times throughout the month. The Altima’s sales alone were up 5.2% January 2014 – June 2014 vs. January 2013 – June 2013. The other sales leader for the month was the Nissan Sentra. This car experienced a 67.6% increase in June 2014 compared to June of last year.
In the truck/SUV segment, the Rogue led the way. The popular family vehicle was sold over 15,000 times throughout the month. This SUV has experienced a 25.6% increase January 2014 – June 2014 compared to January 2013 – June 2013. The Pathfinder and Frontier also experienced great months. Both were sold over 5,500 times throughout the month.
Here at Blackburn Nissan, we are proud to contribute to a great sales month. If you would like to see any of these popular sales leaders in-person, stop by our dealership located just outside of Jackson!
Nissan asks that you take their survey and offer your opinion on the diesel-powered Frontier as well as your general knowledge of diesel engines.
Before you take the survey, here’s what we know of the Frontier Diesel Runner so far:
The truck, which is based on Nissan’s 4×2 Frontier Desert Runner model, is loaded with a Cummins’ 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Performance numbers haven’t been released yet for the project, but Nissan’s senior VP of Sales and Marketing, Parts, and Service, said in a press release, “I drove it and tried as hard as I could to hurt the baby. I abused it and pushed it as hard as I could. The thing handled everything I could throw at it with ease.
“I was quite impressed – impressed with the get-up-and-go, the torque, the horsepower, and everything that the truck is going to mean to the potential truck buyer if we end up bringing it to market,” he added.
Check out this video, and then head over to take the survey. There could be a $100 Amazon gift card in the mix for you.
Don’t forget to let us at Blackburn Nissan know your first impressions of the Nissan Frontier Diesel Runner as well.
