When you think of Nissan, models like the Altima and Sentra and words like “reliable” and “affordable” generally come to mind. However, in North America, Nissan is following the market and moving its focus to new Nissan crossover models like the Murano and Rogue. New car customers increasingly want a balance of performance, size, and efficiency from their vehicles, and Nissan delivers that thanks to the CUVs.
“The U.S. market (is) moving so quick right now away from traditional sedans to crossovers,” John Martin, senior vice president-manufacturing for Nissan North America, said to WardsAuto. “The dealers were telling us, ‘We’re seeing this switch.’ And we don’t see that switch as stopping.”
Here at Blackburn Nissan, we certainly don’t see it stopping either, so come see us here as soon as possible to check out the beautifully designed Rogue and Murano. Or, if you’re still a sedan man—or woman—we’ve got plenty of those for you as well. Come see our whole inventory today!
Back in July 2013, Nissan announced that its Canton, Mississippi assembly plant would support production of the Murano, bringing 800 new jobs to the area. Then in May of this year, the automaker announced an additional 500 jobs, bringing employment at the plant to more than 6,000. Now, as 2015 Nissan Murano production commences, Governor Phil Bryant and officials from Nissan gathered on site to celebrate.
The production of the 2015 Murano not only marks the first time the Murano has ever been built in the U.S., but also makes the plant the global hub for Murano production, shifting its focus from a domestic manufacturing plant to a global manufacturing one.
“Today’s debut of the first Murano manufactured in the U.S. once again puts Mississippi on the global stage and helps us further demonstrate to the world that we have a business environment that spurs success and a quality workforce that takes pride in a job well done. I thank Nissan for adding the Murano to the Canton plant’s production line-up, and I wish the company many more successful years in our state.” Governor Bryant said in a news release.
Mississippi has gained tremendously in this move, creating not only thousands of sustainable, well-paying jobs, but also creating the opportunity to export to over 100 markets worldwide.
Here at Blackburn Nissan, we are thrilled to welcome the Murano to our home state!
