Nissan LEAF Electric Vehicle Sales Sets Record for Second Straight Year

The Nissan Leaf is all about taking life to the next level. Sure, it’s an EV with low emissions and high fuel economy numbers, allowing owners to take their conservation efforts up a notch. But, it’s also much more than just an EV; it’s as reliable and valuable of a model as any of Nissan’s other small car offerings. It all adds up to an unprecedented and unmatched combination of revolutionary technology, practicality, and style.

New car owners have been taking notice, right from the very first moment the Nissan Leaf hit the market. It’s already sold over 142,000 units worldwide, with over 64,000 units sold just in the United States. Last year, the Leaf set a record for most electric vehicle sales in a year. This year, it set that record all over again.

“With nearly 20 electric cars or plug-in hybrid models on the road today, Nissan LEAF remains at the head of the class, outselling the nearest competitor by 50 percent through September,” said Brendan Jones, director of Nissan electric vehicle Sales and Infrastructure. “Since the initial launch in 2010 our primary goal is to bring electric vehicles to the mass market in a practical and fun-to-drive package, and we continue to deliver electric cars to more new buyers than anyone else.”

We’ve still got two months to make many more Nissan Leaf converts, so come see us here at Blackburn Nissan to check out the Leaf and help us push that Nissan Leaf electric vehicle sales record even higher.

Nissan Commissions Reverse Graffiti Mural in London Powered by LEAF

Not many people can make a statement while cleaning walls, but that’s exactly what reverse graffiti founder and artist Moose did when Nissan commissioned him to create a mural in London using power from the Nissan LEAF.

Reverse graffiti is the art of using a jet washer to clean layers of dirt and grime from walls, creating an artistic design. Moose’s mural of the London skyline on a subway wall in Waterloo, London is a clear picture of the damage caused by vehicle exhaust and the power of the zero emissions Nissan LEAF.

“This piece of art is a striking call to action that air quality is one of the biggest issues facing the citizens and visitors of Europe’s largest cities today,” said Jean-Pierre Diernaz, Nissan Europe’s EV director. “It is a reminder that electric vehicles don’t have an exhaust to emit the kind of air pollution which has stained the wall Moose has created his piece on. Working with Moose to highlight the effect of air quality on our cities through a piece of art powered by the Nissan LEAF is an exciting and powerful way of reminding people about the benefits of zero emission vehicles.”

We at Blackburn Nissan are incredibly impressed with the reverse graffiti mural. We’re even more impressed with the positive impact even a single LEAF can have.
